surprised by the placement of the fingerings—mainly because of how the
“flow” is notated in a given fingering choice. In the preparatory
process of improvisation, something is never played the same way
twice. This is always a problem with instruction for students or with
instructional books (methods).
Fingering is part of the sound, and perhaps even part of the idiom:
the configuration of open strings combined with stopped strings, the
slurs, right-hand fingering, and the use or non-use of *apoyando*
(mostly not) can all be seen in the score and video. Also these are extensively
explained in the LOOS’s *Transmutation of the Classical Guitar into
Jazz* videos.
