This is the least well known of Purcell's three versions of this text, and by far the most vocally challenging.  This edition is for low voice having been transposed down a perfect 4th from the original.  The tempo markings are editorial and offer a guideline to traditional performance practice for the work.  This would be a great opening piece for a recital or as part of a diploma/college exam programme.
