Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by Jane Frasier. This edition: pdf. Baroque. 7 pages. Jane Frasier #1291389. Published by Jane Frasier (A0.1729588).Henry Purcell (c. 10 September 1659 – 21 November 1695) was considered among the greatest English opera composers. He composed more than 100 songs. His musical style was uniquely English, although it incorporated Italian and French elements.
The song If music be the food of love is thought by some to be a setting of a Shakespearean text, however the only direct quotation is the first line, which matches the opening seven words heard in Twelfth Night.
