This setting of the Communion Antiphon for Chrism Mass was a winning composition of the 2015 propers composition contest sponsored by the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians. Taken from Psalm 89, the refrain is set for congregation, with Verses 1 and 2 in unison for cantor or choir and later verses set chorally- Verse 3 is SAATB, a cappella. The musical style resembles plainchant; the fluid melody sings naturally and serves the text well. A solo instrument part may be played by a C or Bb instrument.
