I owned this book as a child and loved singing the songs like Sidewalks of New York or The Caissons go Rolling Along. The detailed description and look inside do not give adequate information on these interesting collections. There are two volumes and a separate duet edition of some pieces from both. These are late elementary to early intermediate level, very accessible to the casual player. The table of contents is separated into: patriotic songs and marches, USA folk tunes, folk tunes from other lands, old favorites, dances, sacred songs, themes from standard literature, and novelty songs. I like these for the historical popular culture they contain and as a handy resource for standards needed occasionally like The Star-Spangled Banner or Silent Night.
