Published by Rosie Newth (A0.845566).Hey, Johnnie Cope, Are Ye Waukin' Yet? is a classic Scots song, the words written by Adam Skirving sometime between 1745 and 1803 to a traditional Scottish tune.
The song tells the story of Sir John Cope, who led government troops into battle against the Jacobites in the uprising of 1745 at the Battle of Prestonpans. Cope suffered a huge defeat and soon after, this song was written to mock him.
Lyrics to all seven verses and the chorus are included along with a suggested piano part, although if you'd prefer, you can play the chords on the guitar or other instrument.
