This arrangement of Laufey's hit song "From the Start" is from a collection of flex ensemble arrangements I have arranged from the Laufey library. Ensemble combinations can range from full string ensemble or combinations of 4-5+ instruments with the addition of a rhythm section and/or a vocalist. Each piece contains a lead sheet (with lyrics) and piano accompaniment, a flex arrangement of a solo part, harmony parts, and a bass part for all string instruments. Any combination of a solo instrument or voice with 2 or more harmony part instruments and at least one bass voice should provide a satisfying ensemble experience for performers from middle school to senior citizens. HINT: Have all players learn one or more lines of the reptative accompaniment part first, then add on the bass part and finish by adding the vocal or instrumental solo. By mastering the articulations and exploring the top, middle and bottom lines of the accompaniment during early repetitions with your strongest to weakest players, the familiarity and perfection of that part leads to rapid levels of comfort for all players in the ensemble. I enjoyed challenging my students to learn a new song in 15 minutes or less! This works for string players at all levels from middle school through college and community ensembles.
