Florete Flores SSAATTBB - Digital Sheet Music

Written for Father Scott A.Haynes,SJC and the choir of St. John Cantius Parish, Chicago, ILFlorete Flores (“Send forth flowers as the lily”) is Nicholas White’s musical setting of Ecclesiasticus 39:19-21. "Florete Flores" and quotes the traditional Gregorian plainsong melody at the opening of the piece, in a dialogue between the two soprano parts, and uses an ostinato figure in the underneath parts to support the meandering melody. Quickly conjuring a sense of mystery, this short motet proceeds with challenging melodic material for the upper voices, supported by hauntingly repetitive harmonies from the altos, tenors and basses. An effective communion motet for any occasion.Florete flores quasi lilium:et date odorem, et frondete in gratiam:et collaudate canticum,et benedicite Dominum in operibus suis.Send forth flowers, as the lily, and yield a smell, and bring forth leaves in grace, and praise with canticles, and bless the Lord in his works.(Ecclesiasticus 39:19-21)
