Sibelius was a late 19th/ early 20th Century Finnish composer. His well know classical melody was a tone poem (Opus 26) that expressed love for Finland and a subtle protest over Russia's dominion and censorship. To avoid being censored by the Czar, the work was first titled "Impromptu." It has gone on to be used in hymns like "Be Still my Soul," "We Trust in Thee," and "A Christian Home." A odulation to a new key occurs between section B and C with the aid of an Italian augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is then added to the new key. The work should be played "con sentimento" or with feeling. Section C calls for "Più maestoso e audace" which is more majestic and bold.
