Based on “Allegro giocoso,” the delightful third movement of Brahms Symphony No. 4, this arrangement was especially created for brass quintet. It preserves the fun and whimsicality of the original but translates that into a form accessible for brass instruments. Changes involve octaves and rhythmic figures, but melodic themes, sections, period order and key signature remain the same. Completed in 2023, performance time at the suggested tempo runs about 6 minutes, 42 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.
