Far from attempting to represent Pasolini’s immense contribution to literature, "Fantasia in forma lirica" is a personal homage to his most intimate and romantic output.
The piece searches for a connection to those works that are most genuinely lyrical and which express the poet’s inner feelings of insecurity, joy, anxiety as well as his contradic- tions. With this piece, it was my desire to explore the inner life of the man Pasolini, rather than the work of the great Italian intellectual so strongly involved in the political and social life of the Country in the second half of the 20th Century.
The title "Fantasia in forma lirica" evokes the quasi-improvisational style of some of his most enigmatic and inspired poems, and elaborates the name of his famous work: "Poesia in forma di Rosa".
