Fanfare-Scherzo is an extended version of a fanfare for brass and timpani that I submitted to a contest for the Dallas Wind Symphony some years ago. It was one of three submissions, and didn't win. But I thought it could make a good piece for concert band if I added some further development of the main theme. The fanfare version is only about two minutes thirty. The result is bright and fast, and a good length for most concert band programs at roughly 6 minutes.
