Music for Concert Band, Grade 2.5
"Fanfare on the ‘Old Hundredth'" is based on the psalm tune attributed to Louis Bourgeois (1520-1559) and known as the "Old Hundredth" tune for its association with the metrical setting of Psalm 100 by William Kethe (?-1594), which begins:
All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell,
Come ye before him and rejoice!
In this arrangement, an original fanfare frames the psalm tune and first verse, which features an original harmonization. This may be played by band alone; an SSATB score (with piano accompaniment for rehearsal) is provided for performance by band and choir together.
