The material for Fanfare for the Return of Shadow is derived from Michael Burritt's composition Shadow Chasers. I have used several of the composer's rhythmic themes and have dispersed them throughout the fanfare. The piece is intended as a celebration of Michael's return to the Eastman School of Music as their new percussion professor. Special thanks to my new friend Keith Aleo for inspiring me to write a composition for the Interlochen Percussion Ensemble.
