Epic Journey to Torshavne is een indrukwekkend concertwerk, geschreven in opdracht van het Gouden Spikerfestival 2016. Het stuk begint met een thema in de trombones, dat aankondigt dat het eiland in zicht is. Dan zorgen de bassen voor verwachtingsvolle spanning, als het eiland geleidelijk opdoemt. Er volgt een levendige dans die dramatische beelden oproept van de eerste bewoners, en een kalmer stuk getiteld People of Torshavn. Een koperkoraal benadrukt uiteindelijk de schoonheid van het eiland.

Epic Journey to Torshavne is an impressive concert work, commissioned by Gouden Spiker Festival 2016. The journey begins At Sea as trombones announce first sighting of the island. A stirring theme in basses creates mystery and anticipation as the island gradually appears. A lively theme in 3/2 introduces Folk Dance & Celebration conjuring dramatic images of early settlers, followed by a calmer rendition entitled People of Torshavn. A brass chorale segues into Finale with a fast reprise and brass chords underscore the splendour of the island.

Epic Journey to Torshavne est une œuvre de concert impressionnante, écrit à la commande du Festival Gouden Spiker 2016. Le morceau commence avec un thème dans les trombones, annonçant que l’île est en vue. Ensuite les basses créent la suspense, quand l’île apparaît petit à petit. S’ensuit une danse animée provoquant des images dramatiques des indigènes, et une pièce plus calme intitulée People of Torshavn. Pour finir, une chorale de cuivres souligne la beauté de l’île.

Epic Journey to Torshavne ist ein beeindruckendes Konzertwerk, komponiert im Auftrag des Gouden Spikerfestival 2016. Das Stück beginnt mit einem Thema in den Posaunen, das für „Land in Sicht steht“. Danach erzeugen die Tuben eine erwartungsvolle Spannung, als die Insel nach und nach sichtbar wird. Es folgt ein lebendiger Tanz, der dramatische Momente aus dem Leben der ersten Inselbewohner in Erinnerung ruft, sowie ein ruhigerer Abschnitt mit dem Titel People of Torshavn.
