Elgar: Angel’s Farewell (Arr. Diehnelt, for String Quartet) by Edward Elgar String Quartet - Digital Sheet Music

By Edward Elgar

This is a string quartet arrangement of the final portion of Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Op.38. This version strives to capture the richness of melody, color, and expressive warmth as found in the original work. I have added, as an introduction, the chorus and orchestral section just prior to "The Angel’s Farewell," i.e., this version begins at rehearsal 125 and goes through the end of the work. The rehearsal markings correlate to the original markings in the full score. Please note: This version is for STRING QUARTET ONLY. The vocal line is incorporated into the string parts. If you wish a version where the string quartet accompanies the vocal soloist, I have that version available separately. See Elgar: Angel’s Farewell for voice and string quartet. This arrangement for string quartet was made at the request of the Hildegard String Quartet in Vermont. As professional musicians who perform for weddings and special occasions, they require high-quality arrangements that capture the full sound, color, and texture of the original work. The layout of the printed parts is designed to limited page turns and provide an ease of reading.
