Capturing the Magic of Wicked!
Singing 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked is always a thrill, and this SAB arrangement truly captures that showstopper energy! The powerful lyrics and feeling of hope are beautifully presented. While some rhythms are challenging, it's so much fun to tackle and makes you feel like you're really sounding like the record. Definitely a rewarding piece for anyone who loves Stephen Schwartz and wants to sing an iconic Broadway hit!

Dynamic Accompaniment for a Powerful Piece
As a vocal coach, I appreciate how this arrangement of 'Defying Gravity' provides a robust, driving accompaniment that strongly supports the SAB choir without simply doubling. The fast tempo and intricate piano texture challenge the singers to maintain precise rhythm and breath control, fostering excellent vocal development. This Roger Emerson SAB arrangement of 'Defying Gravity' is an excellent choice for advanced middle school or high school choirs. While the rhythms are tricky and the accompaniment is fast, it offers fantastic opportunities to teach rhythmic precision and ensemble dynamics. Solid Choral Arrangement, Requires Prep
This SAB choral octavo is a reliable arrangement of 'Defying Gravity.' The accompaniment is quite involved and fast, meaning it's not a quick sight-read for an impromptu gig, but perfect for planned events. While chord symbols aren't present (as expected for a choral score), the piano part is well-written. The 12-page format is manageable for page turns during a 4-minute performance. A great choice for a polished choral performance.

Defying Gravity
I really like the song and it is a nice arrangement, but VERY difficult to learn. The accompaniment has few landmarks to know where you are and it goes VERY fast. The rhythms are tricky, too. However, there are only three of us- perhaps a larger choir would have an easier time-if one person misses an entrance, there will be someone else who gets it.
