Thoughtful Arrangement for Voices
This SATB arrangement by Roger Emerson is intelligently crafted. The vocal lines are well-distributed, allowing each section to shine while maintaining strong voice-leading throughout. The D Major key sits comfortably for most choirs. As a coach, I appreciate the clear indication of vocal melodies and lyrics, making it easy to guide singers through this iconic Broadway piece.

So Fun to Sing from Wicked!
As a member of my community choir, I absolutely love singing this arrangement of "Defying Gravity" from Wicked! It sounds so powerful and really captures the feel of the original. The intermediate difficulty means we get to work on some exciting harmonies in D Major, and it's incredibly rewarding when it all comes together. A true showstopper!

Excellent for Youth & Adult Choirs
Roger Emerson's SATB arrangement of "Defying Gravity" is a fantastic teaching piece for intermediate choirs. The D Major key is accessible, and the voicing for 4 parts is clear, making it great for teaching balance and blend. It’s challenging enough to be rewarding but not overly daunting, perfect for school and community ensembles. Hal Leonard's engraving is always reliable.
