Vivaldi schrieb um die 500 Konzerte, sie umfassten alle Streich- und Blasinstrumente. Dass er auch für Gitarre und Mandoline komponiert hat, wurde erst im Jahr 1926 bei Auffindung einer Handschriftensammlung in einem Salesianerkloster im Piemont entdeckt. Eines der hübschesten Konzerte für diese Instrumentengattung, das C-Dur Konzert, hat Siegfried Behrend (1933-1990) bearbeitet und herausgegeben. Es enthält die frischen, rhythmisch prägnanten Themen, wie sie Vivaldi schrieb. Der Gitarre-Part setzt einen beweglichen Spieler voraus, der sich im Passagenspiel gut auskennt.
