Johann Steffens was municipal organist at St Johannis church in Lüneburg and one of the founding fathers of the North German Organ school. This volume contains three chorale arrangements (including a cycle based on "Veni redemptor” / Nun komm der Heiden Heiland) and a "Fantasia”, one of the few free compositions for organ of that period to show exceptional musicianship.
