"Comfort Ye, Jerusalem" is a medley of three beautiful songs refering to the city 'Jerusalem' by three different composers:

1) "Jerusalem" by Felix Mendelssohn is a noble chorus drawn from his oratorio St. Paul (1836), where he set passages of scripture to music in celebration of the early Christian church.

2) "Comfort ye, comfort ye my people" by George Frideric Händel opens his monumental oratorio Messiah (1741). Setting Isaiah 40:1–3, Händel himself selected the biblical text.

3) "Jerusalem" by Stephen Adams was composed in 1892 and quickly became one of the most beloved sacred songs of the late Victorian era. Inspired by visions of Jerusalem and the promise of eternal peace, Adams and Weatherly created a work that blends soaring melody with deeply moving text.
