    Great Variety

Like the other Craig Curry Christmas book I have, Christmas Jazz for Solo Piano will save me so much work. I just open the books and play from cover to cover! The variety in this book makes it useful for both secular and sacred occasions. I have several books by Craig Curry in my music library - he writes jazz the way I hear it, and he can voice it in a way that fits nicely under my fingers. In this collection I particularly like In the Bleak Midwinter. I can imagine hearing it in a swank piano bar high above a snowy Central Park.I wouldnt recommend sight-playing this book for the public unless you play a lot of jazz and are well acquainted with Currys style. A couple of tricky places might need a little smoothing out. Nevertheless, my first read-through was very rewarding, and I definitely plan to use all of the pieces during the coming Christmas Season.

    Perfect for Christmas Gigs

Just like the other Curry Christmas book I have, this collection saves me so much work. I just open the books and play from cover to cover! The variety in this book makes it useful for both secular and sacred occasions. I have long been a fan of Craig Curry - he hears jazz the way I do, only he can voice it and write it in a way that fits nicely under my fingers. In this collection I particularly like In the Bleak Midwinter. I can imagine hearing it in a swank piano bar high above a snowy Central Park.

    Great twist on traditional carols!

Craig Curry always delivers the goods. There are a lot of great arrangements in this book. The New Orleans Funk arrangement of Silent Night is a real gem.

    Can't wait for Christmas gigs!

I do love me some Craig Curry arrangements, I'll admit. And this collection does not fail my expectations, one bit. I can play the Craig Curry Christmas music, cover-to-cover, when doing a seasonal gig, and I always have people come by the piano and remark about how much they enjoy the music. In this new book, I am particularly charmed by In the Bleak Midwinter. I can just imagine it being played in piano bar overlooking a snowy Central Park. And the gospel feel of We Three Kings is a sure winner, too. Fresh approaches to all of the pieces require confidence in your playing, and a good bit of practice, even if jazz playing falls under your fingers, naturally. What I love about Craig Curry's music is that, as a sight reader, I can sound like a professional ear player.
