Japan is said to be a band powerhouse in the world. Every year, the All Japan Band Association holds a band competition in the summer and an ensemble contest in the winter. However, the number of original works for percussion ensemble is extremely small compared to those for winds. I am often asked for music consultations from fellow directors.
The performance time of this work "Ceremony" was set to be within 5 minutes considering ensemble contest regulations. In addition, the percussion voices were designed to be common equipment to be found in any secondary school band room.
