Cepheus is a beleaguered king. A vain and boastful wife, near loss of his kingdom and daughter, attack by a sea monster, and intervention by an enthusiastic hero threaten his kingly dignity. Just when it seems there might be a happily-ever-after, a brawl breaks out at the wedding of his daughter and the hero. It’s too much. Cepheus wanders away, perhaps searching for some peace and quiet. His constellation can be seen in the northern hemisphere near Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Cetus and Perseus. Listen for their themes weaving through the music. This Late Intermediate Piano Solo is from “88 Constellations” a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano).
