This is Jay Ungar & Molly Masons long awaited book of 62 original waltzes and airs with chord symbols. The tunes cover a wide range of moods, tempos, and styles. Theres a short paragraph about each tune and some illustrative photographs as well. The collection includes Ashokan Farewell, The Lovers Waltz, Love of My Life, The Snowstorm, and 58 more, many of which have never been published or recorded before. Jay Ungar & Molly Mason have become one of the most celebrated duos in the American acoustic music scene. Millions were entranced by the music they did for Ken Burns PBS documentary The Civil War. Their performance of the series signature tune, Jays haunting composition Ashokan Farewell, earned the couple international acclaim. The soundtrack won a Grammy and Ashokan Farewell was nominated for an Emmy. This simple, but powerful melody was originally inspired by the week-long Fiddle & Dance Camps that Jay & Molly run for musicians and dancers at Ashokan Center in the Catskill Mountains. People attend the camps to become better fiddlers, guitarists, mandolin players, percussionists, dancers, dance callers and instructors-becoming links in the chain that helps pass our folk legacy from the people who came before us to those who will follow. The 62 original tunes in Catskill Mountain Waltzes & Airs were largely inspired by the musical styles and idioms that are featured at Jay & Mollys Fiddle & Dance Camps. The flavors range from Celtic to Western, New England to Eastern European, Scandinavian to French Musette and many more.Titles:Allaire,The Alpenhorn,Amid the Rivers and the Streams,Ashokan Farewell,Beckie?s Waltz,Blue Noon,The Blue River Waltz,Brother?s Keeper,Cabernet,Call of the West,The Catskill Mountain Waltz,Cedar Grove,Cool September Rain,The Covered Bridge,Cry of the Hillborn,The Dawn of Time,Delbert?s Tear,Dusty & James,Dying Embers,The Elephant Hotel,Ellery Rose,The Grand Master Waltz,The Great Wall of Manitou,Hudson Valley Serenade,Johanna,John & Pamela,Liberty?s Golden Shore,The Love of My Life,The Lovers? not what you might think
This little spiral-bound book of sweet tunes is lovely as it is: A treble clef melody line. There is no accompaniment. There is no harmony. There is no bass clef. There are guitar chords. I'm unsure why the publisher would list piano and cello as possible instrumentation. That said, It's a lovely collection for a violin or flute with simple guitar accompaniment.

single treble-clef part and chords
These are neat little tunes, but the description shouldn't list cello and piano. I anticipated a violin/fiddle part, a base clef written-out part, and a piano accompaniment. There is only a single treble-clef line and some chord names.

Delightful
Easy to read, easy to play. I share this book with a fiddle player and we can spend hours going through the songs.

Catskill Mountain Waltzes and Airs
These waltzes and airs are a delight to play. We read through them with our mixed quartet of violin, guitar, and high/low recorders and were captivated! Wonderful tunes, and our guitarist loves the chords.
