Kenny Dorham's relaxed Latin classic is a must for all jazz programs. Mark has retained elements of the original version using a small group (alto, tenor, trumpet and trombone) on the opening statement, then the saxes playing the important secondary theme. Kenny Dorham's Blue Bossa is a classic, and Mark Taylor's arrangement captures that relaxed Latin feel perfectly. As an adult learner in a community jazz ensemble, this Grade 4 chart is challenging but totally achievable. It makes our group sound fantastic, especially with the cool sax soli and drum feature. So enjoyable to play and helps us groove together. Highly recommended!
