This is a piano setting of the traditional Lenten hymn, with modern, yet tasteful, harmony. It starts delicately in the upper register for the first chorus, and then modulates from Db to F, with increasingly more complex and lush harmony. It ends in a grand, triumphant manner. This has been well-received as a prelude at many church services during the Lenten and Easter seasons. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did writing it. The You Tube link below is very similar to the written score. As an improviser I tend to play things a little differently each time.
