Barnacle Bill by H Ashworth-Hope is an instantly recognised melody for generations of people in the UK. It has been used as the signature tune to Blue Peter, the longest-running children's TV show in the world. The original recording of the theme by Sidney Torch and the New Century Orchestra was used until 1979 when it was replaced by an arrangement by Mike Oldfield of 'Tubular Bells' fame. Since then there have been several versions.
This lively arrangement for Wind Quintet features the upper woodwind sharing the main melody between them. The lower parts have their moment with the second theme before the recapitulation of the tune.
Also available is an arrangement for Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Euphonium and Keyboard (strings).
