Here is a fun arrangement of this familiar yet much unused Christmas hymn written for a brass quintet of 2 Trumpets, Horn in F, Trombone, and Tuba. It has three variations, one sharing the melody with different insruments throughout, the second more of a chorale with the melody weaving in and out constantly and the third a contripuntal version with the melody appearing and disappearing before ending as it started. This arrangement could be played by more advanced high school musicians and easily by college or professionals. Its duration makes it ideal for service music in a tradtional worship service and could be used specifically any time during the season of Advent, on Christmas Eve or Chrstmas day. Since there is no text it has even been used on any Sunday during the Winter season. Includes score and parts.
