Ball festiu (Festive dance) for 2 pianos, 6 pianists, 12 hands This work, cheerful and dance-like, follows the spirit of festive folk music and is inspired by the traditional Polca d’Ours, a dance originally dedicated to the bear and still present today in many town festivals across Catalonia. Using this melody as a starting point, I created a playful piece in the form of a classical rondo, with a clear structure (A-B-A’-C-A’) in a minor key. The musical discourse plays with imitations and introduces contrasting secondary themes that add variety and expressive richness. The version for twelve hands, was completed in Ortigueira (Galicia) in the summer of 2025. Its premiere took place on October 4 of the same year at the 47th EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) Congress, held in Portorož (Slovenia), within the framework of the conference-concert Innovative Music for More Than One Piano by Women. www.estervela.com.
