The piece was mostly unknown until the mid-1800s when there was renewed interest in Bach's music. It later became famous in the 20th Century and was included in the movie Fantasia in 1940. This arrangement makes the piece more approachable for less experienced players. It includes optional note names, simplified rhythms, a thinner texture, and chord symbols to assist in learning it.
