The 3 sonatas for cello and basso continuo (or for 2 cellos), attributed to Alessandro Scarlatti, was likely composed as a commission or dedication to Francesco (Franciscello) Alborea, a virtuoso cello soloist, and a colleague of his. For the sonatas, Scarlatti indicated a very minimal amount of figured bass, and even less dynamics.

Sonata I in D minor: Largo, Allegro, Largo, A tempo Giusto
Sonata II in C minor: Largo, Allegro, Piano, Allegro
Sonata III in C Major: Largo, Allegro, Amoroso, Presto

The manuscripts are currently preserved in Milan (Italy), with the Fondo Noseda Collection in the Biblioteca del Conservatorio.
