Zadar Sea Organ

Located on the shores of Zadar in Croatia, the Sea Organ is a natural musical instrument over seventy metres in length and featuring 35 organ pipes.

Built under the concrete, the pipes have been positioned so that sea water and wind movements create musical sounds which can be heard by visitors and passers by.
Depending on the size and force of waves and winds, different musical chords can be heard, with the Sea Organ often creating a mismatch of harmonic sounds.
The instrument was created in 2005 by architect Nikola Basic as part of the project to redesign the new city coast.
Elsewhere in the world, travellers can enjoy the sounds of a number of alternative sea organs. The Blackpool High Tide Organ and the San Francisco wave Organ both offer visitors with alternate musical ways to get in touch with nature.
