Youth Music is on the lookout for enthusiastic youngsters aged 16-21 to join a new choir.
The Olympiad will culminate in a festival to be held from June 21st 2012 to September 9th 2012, and Youth Music is looking to put together a youth vocal ensemble to perform throughout the event.
In all, 150 people between the ages of 16 and 21 are being sought, with Youth Music hoping the choir will comprise of a range of different cultures from across the UK.
Members of the Youth Music Voices Ensemble will perform a specially-commission programme of new songs and arrangements in a number of prominent locations.
They will also get the chance to enhance their vocal skills and gain confidence in their ability.
“Alongside the Games, Festival 2012 promises to be one of the most monumental events in our nation’s cultural history and we are extremely proud to be working in partnership with London 2012 on Youth Music Voices, our commitment to the Cultural Olympiad,” commented Christina Coker OBE, chief executive of Youth Music.
“By linking with partner organisations and engaging thousands of young people, Youth Music Voices aims to discover, develop and present some of the UK’s most talented young singers, giving them an opportunity of a lifetime that they might otherwise not have had, to perform and be part of London 2012 and the Cultural Olympiad.”
More details of the Olympiad festival are set to be announced in 2011, with the exact programme of events still being discussed.
