The sixtieth annual Grammy Awards took place in one of the biggest political upheavals in the history of the entertainment industry. With the past month seeing an increase in women expressing themselves vocally about past abuses, something that has dominated recent awards shows, a lot of eyes were on the Grammys to see how this would be represented in the music industry. The general feeling seems to be that the Grammys have maybe missed out on the moment, aside from an interlude where Hilary Clinton read out excerpts from Michael Wolff’s Trump expose Fire and Fury and Janelle Monae’s firey introduction to Kesha’s performance, there wasn’t a great deal outside the norm of your average award ceremony.
Bruno Mars walked away with the event in his back pocket, with 6 Grammy’s, taking the Best Album award from the favourite, Kendrick Lamar (who took 5 Grammy’s himself). The awards were noticeably short on awards for female performers, especially in the current climate, with Alessia Cara winning best newcomer and not much more to go around but this was always likely given the focus on male performers in the nominations. Come on, Grammys! It’s 2018.
In the soundtracks section La La Land came away with Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media and Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media, missing out on Best Song Written For Visual Media to Moana. A much-deserved Best Musical Theatre Album went to Dear Evan Hansen, topping off an incredible year for the musical.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN: VOCAL SELECTIONS

The winner of six Tony Awards®, including Best Original Score and Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen has struck a remarkable chord with audiences and critics everywhere. With advanced ticket sales in excess of $20 million and its soundtrack debut at #8 on the Top 200 Album Billboard chart, it is on track to be one of the most successful Broadway musicals of all time.
The show officially opened on Broadway on December 4, 2016, after a successful Off-Broadway run. The musical features a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul who were both personally involved in editing and approving the Hal Leonard Vocal Selections.
Pasek and Paul won an Oscar for Best Original Song for being the lyricists behind “City of Stars” from La La Land. They have also received numerous awards for their previous stage productions A Christmas Story, The Musical; Dogfight; James and the Giant Peach; and Edges.
The folio is arranged for Voice with Piano accompaniment and includes 13 songs from the soundtrack, including Anybody Have a Map?, Disappear, For Forever, Good for You, If I Could Tell Her, Only Us, Requiem, Sincerely, Me, So Big/So Small, To Break in a Glove, Waving Through a Window, Words Fail and You Will Be Found.

In Disney’s CG-animated film Moana the eponymous teenage heroine is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island and embark on a daring journey to save her people – with a little help from the demigod Maui.
The film features original songs, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina.
This folio for Piano, Voice and Guitar features seven songs from the soundtrack including How Far I’ll Go, I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors), Know Who You Are, Shiny, We Know the Way, Where You Are and You’re Welcome. This souvenir folio also includes beautiful full-colour scenes from the film.
