Take That top UK album chart

Showing that ‘man bands’ can have double the success, Take That have topped the UK album chart for the second time with the album Progress.
First released in November last year, Progress became the biggest-selling album of 2010, landing straight in at number one with first-week sales of 518,601, the highest of any album of the 21st century.
What’s more, the album became the 28th biggest seller of the 21st century and the associated tour has sold 1.8 million tickets across 29 stadium gigs, the BBC reported.
It is the first album to feature member Robbie Williams since the band chose to reform as a four-piece in 2006 and the chart-topping re-release – titled Progressed – comes as the band make their way across the UK and Europe on a sell-out tour, Progress Live.
The new launch has taken the album ten places up the chart to the number one position yesterday (June 19th).
Performing tracks from the album with Robbie, Take That spent the weekend in Dublin among thousands of fans. They appeared at Croke Park for two nights, pleasing nostalgic fans with tracks from their past including Pray and Never Forget.
While Progress is the band’s sixth album, Take That first came into the pop scene in 1992 with the album Take That and Party.
The extended album features tracks including Love Love, When We Were Young and Wonderful World.
Meanwhile, Adele’s 21 retains her position at number two in this week’s chart. MusicWeek reported that sales over the week increased 30.2 per cent and marks the fifth week the album has spent at number two. However, it has spent the past 21 weeks in the number one slot.
Example kept hold of his number one position for the second week running in the singles chart with the track Change The Way You Kiss Me.
