Rumer nominated for 3 Mojo Honours Awards

Singer-songwriter Rumer has been nominated for three Mojo Honours Awards by the respected rock magazine.
Topping off a successful past 12 months which has projected her into the mainstream and seen her take to the stage at Glastonbury last week, Rumer is a contender for the best breakthrough act category, against Villagers, Mile Kane, The Vaccines and Josh T Pearson.
Rumer has also been nominated for song of the year for the track Slow and best album for Seasons of My Soul.
Also up for the album category is John Grant’s Queen of Denmark, Arctic Monkeys’ Suck It and See, Josh T Pearson’s The Last of the Country Gentlemen and Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs.
The Arctic Monkeys are also up for song of the year with the track Don’t Sit Down Because I’ve Moved Your Chair.
Just one other category is up for grabs at the Mojo Honours, that for best live act. Seasick Steve, The Jim Jones Revue, John Grant and Arcade Fire have been nominated for this award, as well as Foals, who will be performing at the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park this weekend.
US singer John Grant is the only other artist to have been nominated for three awards, namely best album, live act and song.
“John Grant and Rumer are exemplary songwriters,” said Mojo magazine’s editor-in-chief Phil Alexander.
Commenting on the nominations, he remarked: “To see Rumer and John Grant with three nominations each proves that the art of real songwriting is alive and well.
“To me, these nominations are a victory for music that is built to last. They reflect just how much quality there is out there right now, so much so that each category is too close to call.”
Readers can vote for their favourite act before the annual awards ceremony takes place on July 21st.
