Rock Choir to break record with first album

A UK choir will enter the record books as the largest music act to release an album when its debut record hits the shelves next month.
While a mere 1,000 or so singers took part in the recording sessions, Rock Choir’s deal covers all of the group’s 4,386 members.
This was enough to secure its place in the Guinness Book of World Records, as well as the act’s second appearance in just over a year on the BBC Breakfast sofa.
Last time Rock Choir creator Caroline Redman Lusher’s dropped in on the Breakfast team she brought the group to the attention of the head of record company Universal, who soon offered a record deal.
Ms Redman Lusher reappeared, alongside a selected group of Rock Choir members, on the programme on Monday (June 21st) to publicise the release of new album Volume 1, which will be available to buy from July 5th.
Rock Choir’s rapid expansion is down to its founder’s strategy of recruiting music graduates, providing them with further training and then sending them out to different towns across the UK to spread the Rock Choir message.
Members of the public now attend Rock Choir events in 71 different locations, allowing them to improve their vocals and enjoy singing along to popular rock classics.
Explaining the process, Rock Choir tutor Jim said: “Anybody can sing. If you can talk you can sing. It’s not really that much about the technicality of singing in our rehearsals, [but] it’s a fun, high-spirited enthusiastic gathering of like-minded people who like singing rock songs together.”
Volume 1 is already selling well, having reached number one in Amazon’s pre-order chart, pop chart, easy listening chart, rock chart and best sellers chart.
