Philip Glass at 75: birthday celebrated with app and remix album

Philip Glass is 75 this year and in celebration of the composer’s anniversary, a special remix album, entitled REWORK is to be released on October 23.
UPDATE: the album is also now available as an interactive and truly immersive app for iOS, featuring a ‘Glass Machine’ feature that lets users to generate their own Glass-esque musical creations through samples of his previous works. Find out more by clicking here.
The album features contributions from Tyondai Braxton, Amon Tobin, Cornelius, Dan Deacon, Johann Johannsson, Nosaj Thing, Memory Tapes, Silver Alert, Pantha du Prince, My Great Ghost and Peter Broderick.
The idea for REWORK came about following a conversation between Glass and his friend and new collaborator Beck, who also appears on the release. They recruited producer Hector Castillo–who’s past credits include projects with David Bowie, Björk and Lou Reed–to compile a collection of remixes from some of the most talented and exciting artists around today.

For more than 50 years, Philip Glass has been at the forefront of contemporary music and art, creating works such as Music in Twelve Parts and the seminal opera Einstein on the Beach, and the birthday release of REWORK is no different.
A REWORK app will also be released to accompany the album in October.
