New Yamaha grand concert piano used for festival performances

Yamaha has announced this year’s dates and performers for the Ribble Valley International Piano week.
Thanks to the success of previous events, Yamaha has decided to move the festival to a larger venue with double the audience capacity. Musicians this year will include Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Peter Donohoe, Martin Roscoe, Anthony Hewitt, Alexandra Dariescu and Chiao-Ying Chang.
Visitors to the various events, which run from July 10th to July 16th, will have the opportunity to witness the various artists using the manufacturer’s exciting new CFX Concert Grand Piano.
Twenty years in the making, the CFX is an entirely new instrument in terms of its piano action and construction. It has received acclaim from artists the world over for its tonal excellence and power.
Indeed, Marianne Bailey, the event’s piano technician, believes that its use during the concert series will serve to highlight its impressive sound.
“When I heard the CFX in Wiesbaden at the launch last year, I was seriously impressed by its power and lyricism and have been itching to get my hands on one ever since,” she said.
“It will be a pleasure to work on one of these instruments as they are capable of such immense subtlety and dynamic range that I know the pianists at Piano Week will be as thrilled by it as I am.”
The Ribble Valley International Piano week was first established 24 years ago and since its inception has become increasingly popular thanks to its choices of performers and programmes.
As such, it regularly attracts some of the most talented pianists from around the world as performers.
Commenting on the move to larger premises, Martin Roscoe, joint artistic director of the festival said: “It enables us to reach a bigger audience as our festival continues to grow in popularity whilst offering our regular visitors a much better experience all round.”
Tickets are available for all dates and can be bought online or by post.
