Neil Diamond set for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inclusion

Neil Diamond has been revealed as one of the acts to be inducted into The Essential Neil Diamondthe US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.
Set up to celebrate the music and musicians that changed the world, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is designed to recognise the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and continuation of rock and roll.
And, after a career spanning over four decades, American singer-songwriter Diamond will join other artists including Alice Cooper and Tom Waits when he is entered into the prestigious hall.
“We are pleased to welcome these artists and executives into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” said Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation president Joel Peresman. “They truly represent the variety of people that have defined and continue to influence music and the business of Rock and Roll.”
In a career that began in the 1960s, Neil Diamond has established Neil Diamond: Guitar Chord Songbookhimself as a major recording artist, an internationally successful touring act and a songwriter whose compositions produced hits for himself and others.
Having recorded over 40 albums, and in excess of 100 songs, his musical style tends to be fairly varied, with waltz, classic rock and roll, pop and soft rock influences. As of 2001, Diamond had sold 115 million records worldwide, including 48 million records in the US.
Diamonds songs have become widely used by a number of artists spanning almost every genre, with pop, rock, R&B, folk, country, jazz, reggae, punk, heavy metal, alternative, easy listening and new age performers recording his songs
The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.
