Portsmouth’s Music Hub have been awarded a national prize for music education.
The National Hub Innovation Award was presented to the hub team at a ceremony at the Barbican Centre in London earlier this week, recognising their innovative work delivering high quality regional music education services.
Beating 122 other Music Hubs across the UK, Portsmouth’s win is a significant achievement and a boon to the local area who have benefited from a wide range of excellent new musical opportunities for children and young in the city.
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award. The Hub’s Partners are a fantastic team who are committed to supporting the Hub’s musical offer to children and young people across Portsmouth.”
Member of the young Musicians’ Council, Sophie Osborne, aged 14, said:
“I am really excited to hear about the Hub’s Award – the Hub is fantastic and we have so many amazing opportunities to do things we never dreamed of like, coaching younger students, conducting, helping at events – we think Portsmouth Music Hub is brilliant and it’s great that other people have decided this as well!”
