Musikmesse 2012: Roland launch the Jupiter-50 and Jupitar-80 Version 2

Musikmesse 2011 saw the launch of Roland’s flagship Jupiter-80 synth and this year it appears that the musical electronics giant are back for more, with the release of a lighter, more portable model in the shape of Jupiter-50.
Roland’s vision for their new, smaller scale, 76-note keyboard was to combine “the supreme expression of the Jupiter-80 with the portability of the Juno series.” – possibly as a direct competitor to the Nord Electro 4D also launched at this year’s Messe.
The Jupiter-50 promises to condense all the 1,500 SuperNatural synth tones and acoustic sounds, fast access user interface and performance controllers of its bigger brother into its more slender, easy-carry frame, which weighs in at just 11 kg (24 lbs 5 oz).
With onboard USB memory for quick audio recording, capturing phrases, sketches and ideas is easy and hassle free.
Sounds can now also be edited and tweaked both on your computer or iPad for convenient and flexible access for players to fiddle and customise as they see fit.
Alongside this new smaller scale release, Roland have announced that a version 2 software update for the Jupiter-80 will land just as its baby brother hits stores later this year.
The version 2 upgrade will feature improved SONAR integration, three new filters and a host of new MFX structures.
