Musikmesse 2012: New Start With A Story series brings music, drama and fun into the creative classroom

Chester Music have launched a new series of music-based activity books for the Early Years classroom at Musikmesse 2012.
Start With A Story has been specially designed by acclaimed children’s author Ann Bryant. Each of the four books are centred around a theme, with a story set as a powerful starting point for songs, poems and drama activities to emerge from.
Ideal for both specialist and non-specialist Early Years teachers, Start With A Story books are a rich teaching resource packed with ideas and activities to inspire and inform lesson plans for the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
The book are accompanied by specially composed songs, CDs full of music and audio sound effects and a range of suggested activities for each story chapter. All teachers need to get started with the books is some space and a selection of simple percussion instruments.
Start With A Story features four titles, each with an imaginative tale at their heart that children will love, wonderfully illustrated by Liz Barrand.
Seasons – My Scamper Through The Seasons
Follow Fiddy Field Mouse and Huckleberry Hedgehog on their adventures through spring, summer, autumn and winter. Ann Bryant’s vivid writing brings all the sights and sounds of the seasons to life, firing up children’s imaginations as they learn about the world around them.
Traditional Tales – Mr. Troll in Pixiewood Forest
Putting a new spin on traditional favourites such as Rumplestiltskin, Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, Mr. Troll in Pixiewood Forest is an imaginative tale full of all of the magical charm of the fairy tales and folk stories of old.
Dragons and Dinosaurs – A Roaring Success!
Two families of Dragons and Dinosaurs struggle to get along in this modern fable of fantastical monsters and a mythical rivalry. Eventually both sides realise they’re not so different and friendship blossoms between these not-so-fearsome beasts.
Myself – A Week in the Life of Tommy Mac (Coming soon!)
Children will identify with this tale of growing up set in a nursery school. Tommy Mac is a Early Years stage learner, discovering the world and others in this engaging and fun story.
