Session 1:  Get Your Head In The Clouds!

Session time: 12.30 – 13.15 on March 20
Location: Seminar Theatre 1
Topic: What is cloud computing?  What resources are in the cloud for primary and secondary music educators?  How can you use it in your music classroom?  Come to this informative session to experience the latest cloud-based tools to help you store, share, and assess student content as well as the latest software resources that have reinvented the way we access tools for teaching music.

Profile: Dr Jim Frankel
Dr Jim Frankel is currently Head of Digital Education for Music Sales Group.  Before his appointment with Music Sales, Jim served as the Managing Director of SoundTree for four years and before that served as a music teacher in the US for over a decade. Jim is author of over 50 articles on music education and also author of The Teachers Guide to Music, Media & Copyright Law and Teaching Classroom Music in the Keyboard Lab, and has also presented clinics and workshops across the US.

Topic: In a connected world, how will music education respond? If you can access the internet everywhere, shouldn’t your learning choices change? We’ll be presenting a round-up of several new online resources that help integrate technology into music instruction.

Profile: Robin Hodson
Robin Hodson is Head of Sales & Training for Music Sales’ Digital Education Division.
Robin comes from a musical family; his grandfather founded a Symphony Orchestra and Music Conservatory in Zimbabwe, and his mother taught music for 50 years.  An accomplished composer and performer, working in a variety of differing genres, he is also a recording engineer, songwriter and arranger.  Robin received a Masters Degree at Magdalen College, Oxford, specializing in choral music. He moved to the US in 1999 and is now a US citizen.
He was with Sibelius/Avid for thirteen years, followed by three years with SoundTree.  During that time, he became a well-known clinician, trainer and salesman for a wide variety of world class music software and technology products.  He has authored many free guides/videos on how to use and learn all kinds of music software, and he has created a curriculum (published by Hal Leonard) for using Pro Tools in Music Education. He was also joint author for the book/DVD/curriculum “Making Music with GarageBand & Mixcraft”.
