Music Sales welcomes new composers

The ever-expanding roster of Music Sales composers has been further strengthened in recent months, with the addition of new musicians.
In particular, two Scandianavian composers – the Swede Britta Byström and Dane Søren Nils Eichberg – have joined the group, which publishes the works of many of the most prominent 20th century classical artists.
Following the signing of the Scandinavian pair, Music Sales complete composer list now totals 200 artists.
Since she started writing, Byström has produced pieces in almost every genre including chamber music, vocal music, and even an opera – but orchestral music is her main focus and forte.
Her music has been performed by the Swedish and the Norwegian Radio Symphony orchestras and in 2007 she became composer in residence at Västerås Sinfonietta.
Farewell variations – which was premiered in 2005, has become a kind of signature piece for the composer. While Sera – an orchestral piece which features a lullaby-like melody – has been reproduced and performed in a number of different musical settings.
“I try to create poetic and beautiful music, which can tempt the listener into an aesthetic experience,” she explained about her compositions.
Eichberg, meanwhile, has risen to become one of the most distinctive composers of his generation, recently being appointed as the first composer in residence in the history of the Danish National Orchestra.
His works have been performed in a number of countries across the world and since 2001 has written more than 30 works including a symphony, cello, piano and violin concertos, an opera and ensemble music.
Eichberg has also been the recipient of a number of awards during his career, with prizes including the Composition Fellowship of the Tanglewood Music Festival, the Composition Stipend of the German Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation and the Composition Prize of the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.
