Music Sales supports Bury St Edmunds 7th annual Christmas Fayre

Bury St Edmunds, home to a large proportion of Music Sales and Musicroom staff, hosted its seventh Annual Christmas Fayre on 26th – 28th November 2010. And this year Music Sales were there!
An attractive combination of six markets, a funfair and free entertainment all running for three days, makes the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre the biggest in East Anglia. What’s more, the  event has been judged ‘Best Tourism Event’ in the Enjoy England regional awards and now goes through to the national finals to be held in April 2011.
In addition to the markets and fairs, visitors were treated to non-stop street entertainment and live music performances held on stages placed in different areas of the town. Music Sales sponsored one of these stages, believing that helping to develop performance skills and bring music to new audiences is an essential aspect of musicianship.
This year’s numbers are yet to be confirmed, but last year’s event attracted over 70,000 visitors.
Graham Wilson, event organiser said: “Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre is an excellent example of a market bringing a community together. It provides opportunities for charities and young enterprise schemes, gives valuable work experience through a partnership with the local college, and makes donations to the many school and community groups that perform on the sound stages. The 200 traders are highly complimentary about the organisation and the warm welcome they receive”.
While Cllr Aitkens added: “The Fayre is a great asset. It is self financing and we estimate that it gives a £730,000 boost to the local economy. Bury St Edmunds is famous for its street market and specialist markets help promote Bury as a market town destination. Many visitors have said they will be back over the summer.”
