Mazzoli signs new deal with G Shirmer

US-based composer Missy Mazzoli has expressed her delight following her signing an exclusive deal with music publisher G Schirmer.
The talented musician and writer has worked hard to gain international appeal by performing her work all over the world.
Indeed, the Kronos Quartet, eighth blackbird, the American Composers Orchestra, New York City Opera, the Minnesota Orchestra, the South Carolina Philharmonic and NOW Ensemble among others have all played pieces written by Mazzoli.
In addition to this, she has seen her work featured in a number of festivals including the Bang-on-a-Can New Music Marathon, the Cabrillo Festival, the Gaudeamus New Music Festival and the Ecstatic Music Festival.
Discussing the partnership with the publisher, Mazzoli said: “I’m thrilled to join some of my favourite composers on the G Schirmer roster. This is a huge milestone in my career. I feel completely supported by G Schirmer and look forward to the years of music-making ahead.”
Over the course of her career, she has received commissions from Carnegie Hall, Bard College Conservatory and the Whitney Museum of Art
And G Schirmer is keen to use their new relationship with the composer to build on these past successes.
Vice-president Kristin Lancino stated: “The entire team at G Schirmer is proud to launch this partnership with the enormously gifted and imaginative composer, Missy Mazzoli.”
In the future, there are plans for the premiere of her first multimedia chamber opera, Song from the Uproar, in 2012, while this year she will premiere a new orchestral work, as well as a new solo work.
Meanwhile, Mazzoli has also been the recipient of the ASCAP Young Composer of the Year Award on four separate occasions (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010).
