It’s not an easy question being asked which instrument you want to play – but Nashville-based company Artiphon are trying to make your decision a whole lot easier.
They’ve created a wholly new instrument – which they believe can create ‘any sound imaginable’.
“A guitar is designed to be strummed; piano keys are pressed; drum pads are tapped; violins are bowed. But what if a single instrument could be played with any of these techniques? That’s exactly what we’re creating – one instrument that lets you be the whole band,” they claim on their Kickstarter page. “Our patented technology enables a new type of musical experience focused on exploration and creativity rather than skill sets and signal chains. It’s an entirely new approach to what a musical instrument can do.”
Their $75,000 goal was completely blown out of the water and they’ve currently got 1,220 backers – a figure which is steadily rising – taking the total raised to $457,424
If this makes this to market – would you give it a go? Would it make a good first instrument for a family member perhaps? Or something for you to mess around with?
