Madonna's new album set for spring release

International pop superstar Madonna has revealed that her next album will be released in the spring of 2012.
She made the announcement in an interview with Swedish television channel Sverges Television and said that she is due to head to her studio in New York to lay down new tracks until the end of the year.
It will be her first album since 2008’s Hard Candy and will be produced once again by William Orbit, who helped Madonna to the huge success of her 1998 album Ray of Light.
Madonna had earlier confirmed that the first single of the album would be released in February or March, hinting at a spring album launch.
Until she locks herself away in the studio, the Material Girl singer has been behind the camera directing her first feature film, W.E., about the life of Wallis Simpson and her affair with King Edward VIII that led to his abdication.
Indeed, it was during her promotional duties for the movie at the Venice Film Festival that she made the announcement of her return to music.
She told the television network that she had already “started a little bit of work in the studio”.
The as-yet-unnamed album will be the 12th for the veteran popstar and the first since her departure from Warner Bros. Records. She will release the new album under concert promoter Live Nation.
Her albums often follow up with a tour and her last performance was on the Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2008 and 2009.
It is still unknown if Madonna’s return to music will be a better move than progressing with a directing career.
While the reviews continue to roll in after W.E.’s premiere, they are largely mixed.
In an interview promoting the film, she put her influence down to ex-husbands Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, who are both film directors.
